Frequently Asked Questions

Is this video cutter free?

Yes! Our video cutter tool is 100% free to use for all supported formats.

Does cutting reduce the quality?

It does not have to. When your clip starts at the beginning of the file — trimming off an ending — the original video stream is copied across untouched, so the result is identical to the source and finishes almost instantly. When you cut from a point in the middle, that point usually falls between the video's keyframes, and the clip has to be re-encoded so it starts on exactly the frame you picked. The tool tells you which one it is going to do before you click.

Can I cut large video files?

In the browser, up to 500MB — everything runs on your own machine, so the limit is your browser's memory. For anything larger, the /api/trim-video endpoint takes the same start and end times.

Can I trim audio files too?

Yes. MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG and Opus all work the same way, and audio trims are always lossless because audio has no keyframes to snap to.

What formats do you support?

We support MP4, AVI, MOV, WEBM, MKV, and many more.
