Summary
How It Works
Choose a mode
Pick "Weighted grade" to combine assignments into an overall grade, or "Final grade needed" to find the score you need on the final.
Enter your scores
For weighted grades, add each item with its grade and weight. For the final, enter your current grade, the final's weight and your target.
See your result
The calculator shows your overall percentage and letter grade, or the exact score you need on the final exam to reach your goal.
A grade calculator takes the guesswork out of two questions every student asks: what is my grade right now, and what do I still need to score? Because courses weight assignments, quizzes, projects and exams differently, a simple average is usually wrong — weighting is what makes the result accurate.
In Weighted grade mode you list each graded item with its percentage score and its weight, and the calculator returns your overall percentage and letter grade on a standard scale. In Final grade needed mode it works backward from your target: enter your current grade and the weight of the final, and it tells you the exact exam score required, including when a goal is already locked in or out of reach.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is a weighted grade calculated?
Each item's grade is multiplied by its weight, those products are summed, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights. This gives an overall percentage where heavier items — like a final exam — count more than smaller ones such as a single quiz.
Do my weights have to add up to 100%?
Not necessarily. Because the calculator divides by the total weight you entered, the math still works if the weights add up to something other than 100. The calculator does flag when the total is not 100% so you can check nothing is missing.
How do I find the grade I need on the final?
Use Final grade needed mode and enter your current grade, the final's weight as a percentage of the course, and the overall grade you want. The formula needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) / w returns the score required on the final, where w is the final's weight as a fraction.
What does it mean if the required score is over 100% or below 0%?
A required score above 100% means your target is not reachable with this final alone, even with a perfect exam. A required score below 0% means you have already secured the grade regardless of how you do on the final.
