Take a test snapshot
Capture a still to check focus and exposure at full resolution, and download it if you want to keep a reference shot. Stop the camera when you are done to release it.
What This Camera Test Checks
Before a job interview, a client call or a livestream, the question is never just "does the camera turn on" — it is whether the browser can reach it, at what resolution, and how smoothly. This test answers all three at once: it opens the camera through the same standard API a video-call app uses, shows the live picture, and reports the resolution and frame rate the hardware is actually delivering rather than the numbers printed on the box.
The measured FPS is taken from real delivered frames. That matters because webcams routinely drop from 30 fps to 15 fps or lower in dim light, when the exposure time is lengthened to brighten the image. If your video looks choppy on calls, watching the FPS readout change as you turn a light on is usually the whole diagnosis.
The snapshot tool captures the frame at full sensor resolution so you can inspect focus, colour and grain closely, and download it as a reference — useful when comparing two webcams or proving a fault to a supplier. Everything, including the snapshot, is produced in your browser.

How do I test my webcam online?+
Click "Start Camera" on this page and allow access when prompted. If you see yourself in the preview, your webcam works and the browser can reach it — which is exactly what a video-call app needs. The panel also reports the camera name, the resolution being delivered and the measured frame rate.
Why is my camera showing a black screen?+
A black preview with no error usually means another application is holding the camera (Zoom, Teams, Meet or the system camera app), a privacy shutter or physical switch is closed, or a laptop privacy setting is disabling the device. Close other apps, check the shutter and switch, then press Start Camera again.
How do I fix "camera access blocked"?+
The browser remembers a previous "Block" decision for the site. Click the padlock or camera icon in the address bar, set Camera to Allow, then reload the page. On macOS and Windows you may also need to grant your browser camera access in the system privacy settings.
What resolution and frame rate does my webcam support?+
Pick a quality preset (720p, 1080p or 4K) and read the "Actual" resolution row: the browser downgrades your request to whatever the hardware really supports, so the actual value is your camera’s true maximum for that request. The FPS figure is measured from delivered frames, not from what the device claims.
Is my video recorded or uploaded?+
No. The video stream is rendered locally by your browser and never leaves your device — nothing is recorded, transmitted or stored on our servers. Snapshots are drawn in your browser and only saved if you choose to download them.
Can I test the camera on my phone?+
Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser and allow camera access. The device list lets you switch between the front and rear cameras, and the mirror toggle flips the preview so a selfie view looks natural.
